Overview
Boku is a worldwide mobile payment company that enables consumers use their phones or digital wallets to pay for digital services. Because the platform talks directly to local wallet providers in different countries. Every transaction has to happen well, no matter where the user is, what device they are using, or what the network conditions are.
It became tougher and harder to make sure that performance was the same in all of Boku’s new locations as it grew. Boku worked with Testvox to undertake coordinated crowd testing in more than 20 countries. This was to make sure that wallet integrations work properly all around the world and to examine real-life payment circumstances in each target market.
Challenges
Before working with Testvox, Boku had to cope with a lot of real-world problems.
- Hard to find testers in the area
At first, Boku tried to hire mobile QA engineers on short-term contracts. But hiring testers from specific regions was slow and not very effective. Freelancers often didn't want to work with a client for a long period, and delays in communication started to influence project timelines.
- Running Country-Specific SPOCs
In countries like the Philippines and Colombia, testing wallet integrations have to be coordinated locally. There were different needs, behaviours, and transaction flows in each market. It became hard to manage several SPOCs in different regions and hard to make them grow.
- Time Zones and Language Problems
Testing was done in several places, the time zone differences made it hard to coordinate. Language differences made things much more complicated. It was getting harder and harder to keep clear communication and consistent performance across locations.
Our Solution
Testvox has developed a global approach for systematic testing globally, so it’s simpler and easier for companies to test their product and trust the results from those tests.
- Recruit Quality Mobile QA Test Engineers
We created a team of multiple skilled mobile quality assurance (QA) test engineers around the world, such as from North America, the Middle East and South Asia. Our tests were on the functions performed by the transactions on the wallet and how they would function as was intended. This included functional testing, integration flows, and also usability.
- One Point of Coordination
Testvox became the only point of contact between Boku and the SPOC for that specific country, therefore Boku did not have multiple contacts on different continents to deal with when it came to organising scheduling; consequently, it becomes easier for them to ensure things happen as they should and smoothly across different countries at different times.
- Testing the Real World Transactions
The wallet transactions were tested in the actual market as actual purchases (i.e., transactions) via the use of local devices, local cellular networks, and local languages. Therefore, the transactions were tested in the way they would operate in the actual world.
Final Thoughts
Testvox assisted Boku with hiring problems and made testing easier for companies that operate in more than one country by integrating regional crowd testing with organised worldwide coordination. The end result was a payment platform that was stable, scalable, and could provide uniform wallet performance around the world. This gave Boku the confidence to keep growing globally.
