Kidulan.com is a Shopify-hosted digital storefront preparing for a major marketing campaign expected to drive a sharp, short-lived traffic surge. With the campaign date fixed and no room to slip, Kidulan needed hard evidence — not assumptions — that the storefront could hold up under peak concurrency before real customers hit it at scale.

Testvox ran a focused, rapid-turnaround performance testing engagement: a realistic, weighted workload model built around actual shopper behavior, executed against a strict 4-day schedule, with a full SLA validation report delivered in time to act on before the campaign went live.

Challenges Faced by Client

  • A fixed campaign date, zero buffer With the marketing campaign date locked, the entire engagement — scripting, two full load-test cycles, and a closure report — had to run inside a strict 4-day window, with no room built in for retesting or rework.
  • Traffic that isn't uniform A real campaign surge isn't one flat wave of identical users — it's a mix of high-intent buyers heading straight for checkout, window shoppers browsing categories, and casual visitors just loading pages. Testing needed to reflect that mix accurately, not just throw generic load at the homepage.
  • A production authentication layer that couldn't be bypassed Per the development team, the OTP-based login flow couldn't be hardcoded or bypassed for testing purposes — meaning the true end-to-end logged-in journey was off-limits, and the test needed to be redesigned around a high-volume guest journey instead, while being transparent about what that meant for real login-time performance.

Our Solution

  1. Built a Weighted, Behavior-Based Workload Model
  2. Rather than a single generic user flow, Testvox modeled four distinct shopper profiles — high-intent buyers (60%), window shoppers (10%), product browsers (10%), and general surfers (20%) — each with its own realistic sequence of actions, so the load test mirrored how campaign traffic would actually behave rather than a synthetic worst case.

  3. Executed a Strict Two-Stage Load Test in 4 Days
  4. Using Apache JMeter, Testvox scripted and validated all in-scope flows on Day 1, ran a 10,000-concurrent-user validation pass on Day 2, scaled to the full 20,000-concurrent-user peak run on Day 3, and delivered a complete closure report — response time graphs, error breakdowns, and sign-off — by Day 4.

  5. Adapted Around the Authentication Constraint — Transparently
  6. Since the OTP login flow couldn't be safely bypassed, Testvox executed the maximum-coverage alternative: a high-volume guest journey (Search → Select → Add to Cart) that still stress-tested the core storefront experience. This limitation was flagged clearly in the report rather than glossed over, so Kidulan knew exactly what was — and wasn't — covered.

SLA Conformance Confirmed at Full Peak Load

At 20,000 concurrent users, every primary user action — search, product view, add to cart, add to wishlist — stayed within the agreed 5-second SLA, giving Kidulan a validated green light on infrastructure readiness ahead of the campaign.

Early Visibility Into Two Pages to Watch

Minor response-time deviations were observed on the Search and View Cart functions under full load. While both stayed within acceptable limits, surfacing them before the campaign gave Kidulan's team a precise, prioritized list of what to keep an eye on — rather than finding out live.
