1. What inspired you to get into software testing?

What excites me about QA is that it goes beyond finding bugs—it’s about preventing them, asking the right questions early, and ensuring overall product quality. The field is continuously evolving, offering opportunities to explore automation, performance testing, and even DevOps. This balance of technical skills, collaboration, and impact is what makes QA the perfect fit.

2. Describe a typical day in your role as a QA tester.

A typical day often begins with reviewing sprint goals and the latest development updates. Test cases are executed, defects logged, fixes verified, and critical issues discussed with developers. The day is usually a mix of manual testing, bug verification, and participating in team stand-ups—all focused on delivering software that meets functional, usability, and performance standards.

3. What’s the most exciting bug you’ve ever found?

One of the most memorable bugs appeared in a financial platform where transaction data displayed inconsistently between the dashboard and backend reports. A seemingly minor mismatch turned out to be a critical rounding error that could have caused financial misreporting. In another case, while testing an education platform, quiz results failed to save correctly if users navigated too quickly—impacting learner progress. Such discoveries highlight the value of curiosity and attention to detail in manual QA.

4. Which testing tools or technologies do you use regularly?

QASE is the go-to tool for test case management, while JIRA, ClickUp, Trello, and Zoho Projects are used for task and issue tracking. Team communication flows smoothly through Slack, ensuring collaboration and sprint alignment. These tools together streamline the entire QA process.

5. How do you collaborate with developers and designers during sprints?

Collaboration happens through sprint planning, stand-ups, and quick syncs to resolve blockers. Developers receive detailed bug reports with reproduction steps, while designers get feedback on UI/UX consistency. Platforms like JIRA, ClickUp, and Slack keep communication transparent and efficient throughout the sprint cycle.

6. What’s your favourite part of the QA lifecycle and why?

Test execution and defect reporting stand out as the most engaging phase. This stage offers the chance to dive into the application, explore user flows, reproduce bugs, and provide detailed reports. The investigative nature of this work makes it both challenging and rewarding, especially knowing it directly improves product stability and user experience.

7. How do you keep up with trends and updates in the QA field?

Staying updated involves following QA communities like Ministry of Testing, TestGuild, and Stack Overflow, along with industry blogs and newsletters. Webinars and online workshops add exposure to topics like automation, AI in testing, and shift-left practices. Continuous learning ensures a fresh perspective is brought into daily work.

8. What’s one habit that keeps you focused and productive?

Productivity begins with a clear task list broken into achievable goals, tracked using Trello or ClickUp. Work is done in focused time blocks with minimal distractions, balanced by short breaks to maintain energy and consistency throughout the day.

9. What’s been your proudest moment in your QA career?

Catching a critical issue just before a major release stands as the proudest achievement. The bug, subtle enough to slip through earlier checks, was caught through exploratory testing and detailed documentation. The fix was implemented quickly, preventing a production issue and ensuring a smooth release—a moment that reinforced the value of thorough QA.

10. Outside of work, what are your interests or hobbies?

Reading classics and self-development books, practicing yoga, and painting are regular pursuits. Trekking and traveling also play a big role—exploring new places and cultures brings balance, inspiration, and renewed energy both personally and professionally.
